Portable appliance testing (commonly known as PAT testing) is a good skill for electricians to learn. All commercially-used appliances must be tested to make sure they’re safe for use, so earning your PAT qualification can potentially give you a whole new source of revenue.
Complete our PAT training course and you’ll be able to offer portable appliance testing services to a wide range of commercial clients. This qualification is included in our Essential, Professional and Premium electrical courses.
We deliver this PAT training course in association with both City & Guilds and EAL:
City & Guilds 2377 (Electrical Equipment Maintenance and Testing)
EAL Level 3 Award in the In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment

Who is the PAT testing course for?
This PAT training course is ideal for anyone who is responsible for ensuring the safety of commercially-used appliances. The PAT qualification will enable you to test office equipment, kitchen appliances, power tools, and many other items.
Although some basic electrical knowledge is useful, it is not essential for this particular course.
Qualifications
Level 3 Certificate for the Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment
- You may know this qualification as City & Guilds 2377, although we also run the PAT testing course through other awarding organisations such as EAL and LCL Awards. If you have a preferred awarding organisation, please be sure to mention this to your course advisor.
