1. Choose your trade: plumbing, gas or electrics?

2. Webinar and exam: City & Guilds Level 1 Health & Safety
You will attend two days of health and safety training webinars, then complete the Level 1 City & Guilds Health and Safety online exam.
3. Webinar and exam: CSCS card
A one-day webinar to prepare you to sit the CSCS card exam. When you are ready, contact our recruitment team and we will book your in-centre exam. Once you have passed, speak to us and we will get your CSCS card sent to your home address.
4. Interview preparation and career support
As soon as you've obtained your CSCS card, we will reach out to our network of employers to secure an interview for one of 300+ labourer / site work opportunities throughout the UK. Our two-day induction webinar will then prepare you for working on-site. This is how you'll get paid while training!
5. Start earning!
Earn While You Learn students typically start with a standard site labourer role, so your duties will include site maintenance, setup and clearance. PPE will be provided. Expect to earn somewhere between £10.65 and £14.00 per hour. NOTE: Duties and salary may vary depending on site location.
NOTE: Our Earn While You Learn courses are not affiliated with any UK Government apprenticeship scheme. This is a private qualification route that includes on-site training plus employment opportunities and connections. Is this an apprenticeship scheme?

Not exactly. Access Training's Earn While You Learn programme is like an apprenticeship in that it allows you to earn money while you're in the process of learning your new trade. But it is not part of any government-affiliated apprenticeship scheme.

How does Earn While You Learn differ from Access Training's other courses?

The Earn While You Learn scheme was conceived as an alternative to apprenticeships. It allows you to complete one of Access Training's popular trade courses (for example, the Essential Electrical Course or the Professional Plumbing Course) while simultaneously earning a competitive wage and gaining valuable on-site work experience.
The core content of your Earn While You Learn package will be identical to that of your chosen Access Training course. In addition to this, though, you will sit the Level 1 City & Guilds Health and Safety exam, followed by the CSCS exam. Once you have passed these exams and obtained your CSCS card, Access Training will secure you an interview for a paid role as an on-site labourer. You will be doing this job and working your way through your chosen course at the same time.
Not only does this mean you don't have to wait until your course is finished to start earning, it also gives you some genuine on-site experience for your CV. This will give you a competitive advantage when you're fully qualified and ready to start applying for more advanced roles in the trade industry.
